How it plays. All five reels start three symbols tall. A horseshoe makes its reel grow, and when a reel reaches full height you win the prize in the Luck Zone orb above it, after which the reel drops back to three rows. More on how it plays

How Hexbreaker 3 plays

How it plays

Reel heights and orb prizes stay as the last player left them, so this is a persistence game, and taller reels also mean more ways to win. Three bonus symbols on reels 2-4, or a bonus orb, start Change Your Luck free games. In free games the reels grow downward toward a Jinx Zone of cash orbs, skull orbs and the white-cat progressive, and the round runs until a skull ends it. Mystery symbols that transform into matching groups help base-game wins.

Features

  • Horseshoes grow individual reels; a full reel pays its Luck Zone orb and resets
  • Luck Zone orbs can hold credits, free games or the black-cat progressive
  • Change Your Luck free games run until a skull orb is hit
  • Symbol transformations into one to four matching groups
  • Wins pay left-to-right and right-to-left

Tips from players and reviewers

  • Reel heights carry over between players. Wizard of Odds' preliminary guidance is to look for at least 3,500 combinations (the reel heights multiplied together), or a middle reel at six rows or more. It calls this an educated guess.
  • Forum players report large swings even at good setups, and some think software updates changed how often the middle reel grows, so treat any threshold as rough.
  • The progressive you chase is the one for your bet level, so check the cat meter at the bet you plan to use (Wizard of Odds).

Tips can't change the odds of any spin. They help you pick a bet level and a machine.

Industry standing and land-casino jackpots

Casino Journal listed Hexbreaker 3 among 2020's most innovative gaming products, and IGT said at the time that it regularly ranked near the top of performance charts. Players can see the reel heights at a glance, which has made it a well-known advantage-play target and keeps it in forum and YouTube coverage.
