How Wheel of Fortune (reels) plays

How it plays

A spin trigger, usually a Spin symbol on the right-hand reel and in some versions combined with other symbols, lets you spin the wheel for credits. On most versions only the qualifying (usually maximum) bet makes the jackpot or the wheel live. Newer editions add Cash Link coin collection and extra pointers with multipliers.

Features

  • Physical lit wheel above the reels; MegaTower editions use an 11-foot cabinet
  • Base-game wilds multiply line wins (e.g., Double Diamond doubles, Triple Red Hot 7s triples)
  • Diamond Spins: up to three pointers on one wheel spin, and 2x wilds that combine with double/triple stars for up to 9x
  • Cash Link Reels: coins on the reels collect credits; betting up adds up to five wheel pointers with up to 22x multipliers on Cash Link values

Tips from players and reviewers

  • Read the glass first: if the wheel or the jackpot needs the maximum bet and that is too rich for you, play a lower-denomination Wheel of Fortune machine at max bet rather than short-betting a higher one.
  • Much of the return sits in the wheel and the jackpot, so the base game can run cold for long stretches. Set a session budget before you start.
  • On banked MegaTower and Trio setups the whole bank celebrates a wheel spin, but you only win what your own machine triggers.

Tips can't change the odds of any spin. They help you pick a bet level and a machine.
