Matches, casino hosts and travel agents
A new player has no history with a line's casino, so there's nothing to base an offer on. There are three ways around that: ask the line to match your play elsewhere, go through an independent casino host, or have a travel agent book an offer you already hold.
A new player has no casino history, so there are three ways to a first offer: ask the line to match your land-casino status or a competing cruise offer (most lines now do, but none guarantees approval), go through an independent casino host, who is paid by the line rather than by you, or have a travel agent book an offer you already hold, where the line allows it.
Matches are free. Don't pay anyone for a match or a comp, don't buy someone else's offer, and never share your login.
Terms with a dotted underline are explained when you tap or select them.
Asking a cruise line for a match
Most lines now take your land-casino status or a competing cruise offer and send you a starter offer. No line guarantees approval, and several only reply if you qualify.
| Line | Who can apply | How | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Caribbean | New Club Royale members, or members who haven't sailed in 24 months and have no future booking. 21+, US or Canada resident. | Rewards Match form: upload an eligible casino card (or a competing cruise offer) and join Crown & Anchor. | Redeem within 15 days; sail within 9 months. Accepted programs include Caesars (Platinum and up), Wynn, Venetian, Station, PENN, Boyd and more. |
| Celebrity | No public casino match found. | URComped says it offers a route to Celebrity offers. Reported | Celebrity's own status match covers cruise loyalty, not Blue Chip. |
| Carnival Fun Match | US residents 21+. Runs through at least December 31, 2026. | Online form; share your other casino cards. | About 7 business days, and only qualifiers hear back. Fare for you and up to 2 guests, $100 per person deposit, $100 per person onboard credit. |
| Princess Tier Match | US residents 21+, new or existing guests. Through at least December 31, 2026. | Submit your best land-casino or cruise offer, except from Carnival. | About 7 business days. $200 non-refundable deposit per guest; taxes and fees extra. |
| Holland America Match | US residents 21+. | Form at oceanplayersclub.com/hollandamericamatch, with an optional upload of casino tiers or offers. | About 7 business days; book within 60 days. One 2026 report says offers run up to 12 nights. Reported |
| Norwegian First Cruise On The House | Casino players who haven't sailed NCL (exact rule not published). Reported | Upload land-casino offers or cards at casinosatsea.com. | Free interior up to 14 nights, plus an admin fee of about $20 per person per night and taxes. |
| MSC Comp Match | Casino players with a cruise or land-casino comp offer. | "Get your match" form at msccompmatch.com. | MSC says its comps include taxes and fees. One report puts the deposit at $400, returned as free play. |
| Virgin Voyages | Guests who have never sailed Virgin, per Frequent Miler (Virgin says rewards can start on your first voyage). 21+. | Upload a competing casino offer and rank two sailing choices (up to 9 nights). | Redeem by calling 954-372-7212. Virgin says it doesn't match status itself. |
| Margaritaville Match My Offer | "Qualified" players (not defined). | Upload an offer showing your full name and details. | Matched "to the highest qualifying level." A $1,000 free play cap is reported but not official. |
Explora Journeys has no casino program, so there's nothing to match. Comp offers almost never cover gratuities, and usually not taxes and port fees either.
How independent casino hosts work
Royal Caribbean Group publishes the contract it signs with independent casino representatives (ICRs), which shows how the arrangement works.
Who they are
- Independent contractors, not cruise line employees.
- They need a gaming license from NJ, NV, MS, CT or PA, or must pass a background check.
- They bring in new players, or Club Royale members inactive for 24 months with no future booking. That's the same group the public Rewards Match covers.
- They book through the line's own channels (Cruising Power or the casino reservations desk).
How they're paid
- The cruise line pays them, not you.
- Commission is up to 22% of your actual casino result or up to 20% of your theoretical loss (Theoretical loss: what you're expected to lose on average, worked out as amount wagered × house edge. Casinos base comps on it, not on what you actually lose.), whichever is higher.
- Caps: $10,000 per cruise on theoretical, $50,000 on actual.
- After your first booking you're "coded" to the host until you've been inactive for 12 months, or until you ask in writing to be released.
- Where a host matters mostNorwegian says its complimentary fares must be booked through Casinos At Sea or "your independent casino representative." For Celebrity, which has no public match, URComped presents itself as the way in.
- ProsOne contact for several lines and someone to chase upgrades. URComped says it adds your actual play to your profile after your first trip booked through it.
- ConsThe host earns more when you play more. You stay coded to them until you opt out in writing or go a year without booking. A host can't override the line's rules on taxes, fees or names.
- Offer servicesURComped says it's free for players and has partnerships with casinos and cruise lines. It doesn't say how it's paid, and we didn't verify it.
Booking a casino offer through a travel agent
Some lines allow it, some don't, and even where it's allowed the agent is working blind.
| Line | Can a travel agent book it? |
|---|---|
| Royal Caribbean | Yes. The terms say to call your travel advisor or independent casino representative. In practice agents must phone Casino Royale, and their commission on a free fare is close to nothing. |
| Celebrity | Yes, through your travel advisor, an independent host or the casino desk (1-866-461-7170). |
| Hard Rock offers on RC and Celebrity | No. They're "not valid for booking with a Vacation Agent." |
| Norwegian | Complimentary fares go through Casinos At Sea or an independent casino host, with no mention of agents. One blogger lost his Caesars discount and casino perks after moving a booking to an agent. Reported |
| Carnival | Depends on the offer. Some casino rates have said to contact your travel agent; others just give a rate code. |
| Princess, MSC, Holland America, Virgin | Not addressed. Virgin redeems only by phone or email to its casino team, and Holland America requires the booking name and Mariner ID to match the invited player. |
They can't see your casino account
Your points, tier, theo and offers live in the cruise line's casino system. An agent only knows what you forward them.
The code may not attach
Casino offers are tied to the player named on the offer and a specific code. Booked the wrong way, the offer may not apply.
Changes can cost you
Royal Caribbean warns that changes or cancellations may forfeit the offer, and casino deposits at Princess, Carnival and Holland America are non-refundable.
Perks may not stack
A Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Stateroom Offer (A Royal Caribbean or Celebrity casino offer for a free or discounted cabin. It's different from a Dollars Off offer, which takes money off a fare.) doesn't combine with other offers, so an agency's onboard credit or group perks may not apply. Comp cabins also drop out of group counts.
Names go wrong
An agent told Royal Caribbean Blog that casino staff sometimes put the wrong names on bookings. Check the primary guest matches your casino account.
Who to call
Club Royale 1-888-561-2234 · Blue Chip 1-866-461-7170 · Casinos At Sea 1-877-752-9625 · Virgin 954-372-7212. If an agent booked it, ask them to call with you on the line.
Red flags
- Paying for a matchCruise line matches are free, and independent hosts are paid by the line. Don't pay anyone to get you a match or a comp.
- Buying someone's offerRoyal Caribbean and Celebrity casino offers can't be sold or reassigned, and Holland America bans name changes. A bought offer may not be honored.
- Sharing passwordsNo line requires it. Share a screenshot of an offer or a photo of your card, never your login.
- Guaranteed approvalNo line promises a match. Anyone who does is guessing.
- Bookings in someone else's nameMake sure the reservation shows you as the primary guest and was made through the line's own channels.
