Virgin Voyages casino offers, explained

Sea Roller Rewards is Virgin Voyages' casino program, with five published tiers and a May to April earning year. Here's what each tier unlocks, how casino cabin offers arrive and what their terms cover, where Virgin's own pages disagree, and what you still pay on a free fare.

Short answer

You're enrolled the moment you play. Slots earn 1 point per $5 wagered and video poker 1 point per $10. Star (5,000 points) brings casino offers, a dedicated booking number, free drinks while you play and an annual cabin offer; free play per voyage starts at Superstar (15,000 points). Points also redeem toward free play at every tier, at a rate Virgin doesn't publish.

A casino cabin offer covers the voyage fare for a double-occupancy cabin and nothing else. You still pay taxes, any fuel surcharge, upgrades and the service gratuity ($22 per Sailor per day, or $20 a night prepaid). Each booking also carries a $200 deposit in the form of casino play, which Virgin applies to the slot machines once you're on board.

Terms with a dotted underline are explained when you tap or select them.

How offers arrive

Virgin's terms say a casino cabin offer goes to "the qualified Sailor recipient named in the email, direct mail and/or onboard certificate, with verifiable ratings." There's no online offers page to log in to.

  • By email or mailAfter a sailing, or when your tier brings its annual cabin offer. The offer names you and sets the itinerary and cabin category.
  • On boardAs a certificate from the casino. The benefits grid also lists an "additional complimentary cabin offer," based "on points earned during your voyage." Virgin doesn't publish the points needed.
  • RedeemingOnly by calling Virgin Voyages at 954-372-7212 or emailing VVcasino@virginvoyages.com. The terms put "ONLY" in capitals, so the website and the usual booking channels won't take it.
  • Dedicated booking numberA Star benefit and above. Virgin doesn't print a separate number for it; the casino terms give only the line above.
  • Checking your pointsWe found no Virgin page or app feature that shows your Sea Roller points or tier. Ask the casino host on board. CamJon Travel, a Virgin travel agency, says to call Sailor Services after you sail (reported).

Your casino record follows your Sailor account, so book every voyage in your passport name. Our casino accounts guide covers joining, records and the forms Virgin uses.

Earning points

Virgin's casino page says: "The moment you play at our casino, you're automatically enrolled in Sea Roller Rewards," starting in the Showstopper tier. The terms add that, from April 23, 2024, anyone who had sailed before and played was enrolled with a tier "based on your previous voyage(s)."

GameOfficial rateNotes
Reel and video slots1 point for every $5 wager-inCounts what you bet, not what you lose. Reaching Star on slots alone takes $25,000 of wagers (5,000 × $5), by our arithmetic.
Video poker1 point for every $10 wager-inHalf the slot rate per dollar. The same 5,000 points takes $50,000 of video poker wagers. See video poker on cruise ships.
Table games"Based on average bet, session play or hands played and game type"No formula is published. Ask the casino host how you're being rated.

Paying to play

You tap your Band at machines and tables or play with US dollars. Virgin's FAQ says Sailor Loot, its onboard credit, "can be used in the casino for gameplay, but cannot be cashed out." A Wire Form on the casino page lets you send funds ahead of a sailing.

What isn't published

Virgin doesn't say whether free play earns points, publishes no points multipliers, and gives no fee for charging gaming to your account. It only says Superstar and above have cash advance fees waived.

What those wagers cost on average, at typical slot and video poker returns, is worked through in what a free casino cruise really costs. Free drinks at Star are priced the same way in free drinks in cruise casinos.

Tiers and what they unlock

Virgin's casino page, its benefits grid and its terms (spelled "Sea Rollers Rewards" in the terms and on the grid) list the same five tiers. Each tier includes everything below it.

TierTier pointsWhat it adds
Showstopper0 to 4,999Points redemption toward free play.
Star5,000 to 14,999Sea Rollers Rewards casino offers, a dedicated booking number, complimentary casino drinks while playing, and an annual cabin offer.
Superstar15,000 to 34,999Cash advance fees waived and $100 free play per voyage.
Idol35,000 to 74,999$200 free play per voyage, complimentary Premium Wi-Fi and a select bottle of wine for dining.
Legend75,000+$300 free play per voyage.

The annual cabin offer

Star and every tier above get one. Virgin doesn't publish the cabin category, voyage length or value for any tier, so a Legend's offer may differ from a Star's, but nothing official says how. The offer itself sets the itinerary and category.

Free play per voyage

This free play (Promotional casino credit for the machines. The credit itself can't be cashed out, but what you win with it can.) is a fixed amount for each voyage at Superstar, Idol and Legend. Virgin doesn't say whether unused free play carries over. Island Casinos reports that it resets every sailing (reported).

The fleet's casinos, games and high-limit rooms are on our Virgin Voyages page. To see whether the next tier pays for the extra play, try is the next tier worth it?

Program year and when benefits start

The casino page sets the earning period at "May 1st through April 30th each year." Reach a tier "and you'll enjoy its exclusive benefits for the rest of the current earning year and the entire following status year." The terms add that your points start from zero for each new period.

  • Current yearThe terms updated September 10, 2026 say status already earned "will remain through April 30th, 2027, while your point balance starts from zero May 1st, 2026."
  • A stale lineThe same terms still head their earning-period section "May 1, 2025 - April 30, 2026." Read the overview's dates as the current ones.
  • Keeping a tierThe terms say "Sailor tier status remains for 12 months" and "Sailor starts at zero for next tier period." No grace period or soft landing is published, so falling short would leave you at the tier your new total supports.

Virgin's page disagrees with its terms

The casino page says: "As soon as you qualify for a new tier, your benefits are activated." The terms on the same page say: "If Sailor obtains next tier level on current sailing those benefits will only be available for next voyage." We can't tell which applies on board. Plan on the terms' version, so a tier you cross mid-cruise counts from your next sailing, and ask the casino host if it matters to you.

How Virgin's reset compares with Club Royale, Blue Chip and Norwegian, and what to do in the last weeks of a year: program-year deadlines.

Redeeming points

Every tier, Showstopper included, lists "Points redemption towards Free Play." That's the only redemption Virgin's terms name. Its casino blog puts it as "redeem for onboard perks and casino credit."

  • RateNot published. Virgin gives no figure for how many points buy a dollar of free play, and no minimum.
  • VoyagesPoints don't buy cruises directly. Cabins come as offers: the annual cabin offer from Star up, Sea Rollers casino offers, and the additional cabin offer based on points earned on a voyage.
  • Spending pointsVirgin doesn't say whether redeeming lowers the tier points that set your status. Ask before you redeem late in an earning year.

Points that buy free play and points that set your tier work differently on other lines. Casino comps vs cruise loyalty explains the difference.

Casino cabin offer terms

One set of terms on Virgin's casino page covers what it calls the "Casino Cabin Offer." The last line says the terms "can change at any time, without notice."

  • What's covered"The voyage fare only," for "a double-occupancy cabin only," on Virgin's Lady ships, for new bookings.
  • What's excludedAll taxes, upgrades, voyage protection, transfers (unless you're in a Mega Rock Star Quarters suite) and any fuel surcharge. The offer can't be used for Sailor Loot, Shore Things, taxes, fees or add-ons.
  • UpgradesAllowed if you pay the difference, within the itinerary, ship class and voyage length on the offer.
  • Who can use itOnly the named recipient, who must be 21 or older. It's non-transferable, nonrefundable, has no cash value and can't be combined with "any other voyage benefits, discounts, special offers, nor promotions."
  • Where it can't be usedCharters and customized Circle programs.
  • Taxes on the offer"Any tax liability, including disclosure" connected with the offer is yours. See casino winnings and taxes.

The $200 deposit

"A deposit in the form of casino play will be applied to all reservations when created. This deposit will be non-refundable if the reservation is cancelled within 30 days. Once onboard the $200 value will be applied to our slot machines for play." The terms don't say how the deposit is charged or what the 30 days count from. Ask when you book.

An older version is still online

An older copy of the casino page, with terms dated May 13, 2026, is still live. It adds that offer recipients get free drinks in the casino while playing ("excluding Premium brands") and that same-household recipients can't redeem two staterooms on one voyage. It has no $200 deposit line. The current terms drop the drinks and same-household lines and add the deposit.

Book the offer as written and get any change confirmed by the casino team at 954-372-7212 before you pay.

Already a casino player elsewhere

Virgin's casino page invites players with rewards at another casino to "upload your current competitive casino offer," which the casino team "will review it for eligibility." Its Casino Player Inquiry form says Virgin will "reach out within 48-72 business hours."

  • What you might get"Complimentary voyages, exclusive casino offers, and premium onboard perks," per Virgin, with no promise of any of them.
  • Not a status matchVirgin's casino blog says, "we don't match status or offers." The current casino page asks for offers to review. Both are still online; read the upload as a case-by-case review, not a match.
  • What players reportFraser At Sea reported that Virgin asks for competing offers for complimentary cruises of at least three nights. Virgin's own pages don't give a minimum.

What you still pay

Virgin sells its fares as inclusive. Its "What's included" page lists all the restaurants, group fitness classes, Wi-Fi, entertainment, and "a soda and drinks package." The casino cabin offer replaces the voyage fare, and the costs below stay with you.

Premium Wi-Fi

Basic Wi-Fi is part of every fare. The Premium Wi-Fi that Idol and Legend add is a step up from that, and Virgin doesn't publish what it costs to buy.

VoyageFair Choices

Since October 7, 2025, Virgin has sold fare options for Sea Terrace cabins and below. Its casino terms don't say which fare option, if any, a casino cabin offer is booked on, or which option's cancellation rules apply. Ask the casino team.

Worked example: two Sailors, five nights

Paid on board: 2 × 5 × $22 = $220 in service gratuities. Prepaid: 2 × 5 × $20 = $200. Add taxes and any fuel surcharge for both of you, plus anything you buy on board. The $200 casino deposit comes back as slot play, not cash. This is our arithmetic from Virgin's published rates; taxes are only known when you price the voyage.

The same costs on other lines, and the expected cost of the play behind an offer, are in what a free casino cruise really costs.

Sailing Club and other perks

Casino offers can't be combined with "any other voyage benefits, discounts, special offers, nor promotions." Virgin's cruise loyalty program, Sailing Club, also keeps casino voyages apart.

  • No Sailing Club creditThe Sailing Club terms (updated June 18, 2026) exclude "Casino (Loyalty) Bookings" from earning toward perks, and the status-match rules exclude "comped casino cruises."
  • Blue Extras on a casino fareThe casino terms say Sailors who hold Deep Blue Extras "will not receive DBE and BE perks when they are sailing on Casino offers and receiving the perks associated with the Casino Loyalty program." You sail on your casino tier's perks instead.
  • Sailing Club status matchCovers airline, hotel and cruise status, not casino programs.

If you hold Deep Blue Extras, compare its perks with your casino tier's before you take a casino fare. Casino comps vs cruise loyalty covers how the two kinds of program interact across lines.

Age rules and smoking

  • 18To book and sail. "Every Virgin Voyages sailing is an experience created exclusively for adults, and the minimum age to book and sail is 18 years old."
  • 21 in AlaskaAll onboard gaming on Alaska sailings, "including the casino, bingo, and other gaming activities," is for Sailors 21 or older. On other itineraries, Virgin says the gaming age "will follow applicable laws and our onboard policy" and gives no number.
  • 21 for casino offersThe recipient of a casino cabin offer must be 21 or older.
  • DrinksVirgin gives the drinking age as 18 in international waters and 21 in the United States, and 21 throughout Alaska sailings.
  • Smoking"Smoking is not permitted in the Casino," per Virgin's FAQ, which points to a designated smoking room nearby on Deck 6. The casino page describes "a non-smoking main casino and high-limit room, plus a dedicated smoking room."

Smoking rooms, high-limit rooms and the games on each ship are on our Virgin Voyages page.

Before you book

  • Read the offerIt names you and sets the itinerary and cabin category. Note what the upgrade rule lets you change.
  • Book by phone or email954-372-7212 or VVcasino@virginvoyages.com, nowhere else.
  • Ask about the depositHow the $200 is taken and when the 30-day non-refundable window starts.
  • Price the restTaxes, any fuel surcharge, gratuities for two by the night and any upgrade.
  • Check your tier dateIf you're close to a threshold, ask the host whether it applies now or from your next voyage.
  • Keep recordsVirgin's casino page has a Sea Roller Win/Loss Form for statements; see casino winnings and taxes.

A casino fare is only worth having if you'd take that voyage anyway. Playing for the next tier usually costs more than its perks return, so set a budget before you board.
