Holland America casino offers, explained

The Holland America Players Club has no published tiers. Offers and event invitations go to players based on their play, and you see yours by logging in with your Mariner ID. Here's what Holland America's terms say an offer covers, what players report about qualifying, and what you still pay.

Short answer

You earn casino points on rated play (1 per $2 on slots, 1 per $5 on video poker), and Holland America uses your play to decide which offers to send: Free Play, drinks in the casino, discounted fares or a free stateroom, and invitations to VIP, Tournament, Ultimate Games and Prestige sailings. It publishes the benefits of each invitation but not the points needed for any of them.

A free stateroom covers the cruise fare for you and one guest. You still pay required fees and taxes (Holland America quotes about $110 to $1,535), a $100 per person non-refundable deposit that comes back as onboard credit, and Crew Appreciation of $18 a day per guest outside suites. The casino terms rule out combining offers with other promotions, and Have It All is a separate fare.

Terms with a dotted underline are explained when you tap or select them.

How offers arrive

Holland America doesn't have a separate casino offers site. Its casino page says that when you log in to your account, or add your Mariner ID, "we will show you the offers that are exclusive to you," and that they're "updated regularly."

  • OnlineHollandAmerica.com/deals, logged in with the Mariner ID your casino record is tied to. The offer terms point to hollandamerica.com/specials and the find-a-cruise search page for each offer's inclusions and redemption limit.
  • By phoneThe casino FAQ says to check offers with your Personal Cruise Consultant or by calling 1-800-207-3549.
  • Already bookedOcean Players Club, the casino service for Carnival Corporation's lines, has a "Verify Casino Offer" form that asks for your Mariner number, booking number, ship and sail date. It says offers can't be combined and that "if you have already taken advantage of a casino offer, no additional offers will be extended."
  • On boardCasino hosts handle comps as you play. Holland America lists Free Play credit, drinks, spa treatments and wine with dinner among the comps you "may unlock."
  • What players reportA 2026 Cruise Mummy article describes two routes: a letter in your cabin on the last night inviting you back, or an email after the cruise listing sailings at casino rates. Holland America's terms only refer to "Offer communications."

Your casino record is keyed to your Mariner ID, so keep one record under your passport name. Our casino accounts guide covers joining, contact details and duplicate records.

Earning points

The Players Club is free. You join the first time you insert your Players Club card in a slot machine or hand it to a dealer, which also sets up your Player Bank.

GameOfficial rateNotes
Slots1 point for every $2 you playBased on coin-in, the total you bet, not what you lose.
Video poker1 point for every $5 coin-inSlower than slots per dollar. What that means per point depends on the pay table; see video poker on cruise ships.
Table gamesBased on the game, your average bet and how long you playNo formula is published. Ask the casino host for your rating.

No program year

Holland America publishes no tiers, no program year and no rule for keeping a level. There's no year-end deadline to chase, unlike Club Royale or Blue Chip. Whether points carry from one cruise to the next isn't stated.

Separate from Mariner Society

Mariner Society, Holland America's cruise loyalty program, excludes "all casino charges, cash advances, Future Cruise deposits, and associated fees" from its onboard spending bonus. Casino play earns you casino points only.

An older 2022 Tips For Travellers article put Holland America at $2.50 a point. The rate Holland America publishes now is $2 on slots. The expected cost of earning points is worked through in what a free casino cruise really costs.

Invitation levels

Holland America presents these as casino events you're invited to, not tiers you hold. Each comes as an offer for particular sailings, and its terms say event perks "may be subject to additional terms."

PrestigeA Prestige casino host, a welcome cocktail party, free drinks in all bars and restaurants, a gift, a stateroom amenity, a personalized door plaque and a free select shore excursion.Qualifying play.

What players report

Without official thresholds, the figures in circulation come from players. Cruise Mummy (August 2026) reported free casino drinks after reaching 1,500 points on a 7-night cruise, but only once the casino host put a sticker on the card. The same writer reached 5,000 points on that 7-night Nieuw Statendam cruise and had no offer eight weeks later, while a commenter said they got inside-cabin offers with fewer points by playing longer at small bets. A 2022 Tips For Travellers article described a 5,000-point player getting a free-cabin "bounce back" offer with 30 days to book and a year to sail. These are reports, not Holland America's figures.

Credit lines

Holland America's casino page invites players to apply for a Casino Credit Line before the cruise, through Ocean Players Club. It's a way to fund play, not an offer, and it doesn't change the rate you earn points at.

The same benefit lists, with the fleet's casinos, are on our Holland America page. Free drinks across lines are compared in free drinks in cruise casinos.

Offer types and booking rules

One terms page covers every Holland America casino offer. It warns that "only some sections of the following terms may apply to your offer," so match each part of your offer to its section.

  • Free stateroomThe lowest stateroom available in the offered category, "which may include a partial or fully-obstructed view." Shared with up to one other guest. Upgrades are at your expense, and third to fifth guests pay prevailing rates.
  • Fare discountsPercentage-off offers come off the total cruise price including fees and taxes. Dollars-off offers come off the cruise fare only. Both apply to the first two guests.
  • Free PlayThis free play (Promotional casino credit for the machines. The credit itself can't be cashed out, but what you win with it can.) is issued in US dollars to the invited member only, as casino credit, and loaded to your Player Bank for slots. For table promo chips, go to the casino cashier. You must use it all before you can cash out, and it expires at the end of that cruise.
  • Drinks in the casinoFor the invited member only, while actively playing. The template caps it at "[15] beverages" a day priced at "US$[11.00] or less"; the brackets mean each offer sets its own figures. Alcohol is 21 and over.
  • Beverage packageSome offers include the Signature Beverage Package for you and one guest in the same stateroom, with the same bracketed daily limits.
  • Whose offer it isOnly the "single officially invited" member named in the offer, a legal resident of the 50 states, DC or Canada, 18 or older. The booking name and Mariner ID must match the offer, with no name changes.
  • LimitsNew bookings only, on select sailings, capacity controlled "regardless of stateroom availability." One stateroom per cruise and up to three cruises, unless the offer's own listing says otherwise.
  • If you don't sailIf the invited member cancels or doesn't show, the second guest loses the offer and owes the full price. Second-guest benefits are fulfilled on board and won't appear on the booking confirmation.

Holland America "may change or revoke" an offer at any time, and you only get the benefits you redeemed when booking. Book the offer exactly as listed and ask before changing anything.

Holland America Match

The Match is how a new player can ask for a first offer. You fill in a form at Ocean Players Club, optionally upload your tier or offers from other casinos once, and Carnival Corporation decides whether to send a deal.

  • Who can applyLegal residents of the 50 US states and DC, 21 or older, who are eligible to sail with Holland America. Canadian residents can receive casino offers but can't use the Match.
  • The answerAbout seven business days after you submit, an email arrives "if (and only if)" a deal is available. No reply means no deal.
  • BookingWithin 60 days of the offer, or within the deal's own timeline, after which it expires. Deals are unique to you and can't be shared, transferred or combined.
  • What a free deal coversFare for the first and second guests. Deposits and taxes, fees and port expenses are excluded, and change fees and cancellation penalties apply.
  • Free PlayThe Match terms say Free Play offers are "only valid for the first two guests in the stateroom." The main casino terms say Free Play is for the invited member, "not any guest." Check which your deal follows.

How the Match compares with other lines' programs, and how independent hosts and agents fit in: matches, casino hosts and travel agents.

What you still pay

Holland America's casino page footnotes its free rooms: "Excludes taxes, fees, and deposit." The free stateroom terms make the invited member "responsible for all Fees corresponding to free stateroom as well as any other charges or expenses."

The deposit, in detail

The $100 deposit applies to new bookings made before final payment. The balance is due at final payment, and inside final payment the standard refund and cancellation rules apply. The onboard credit it becomes can't be used for the cruise fare, fees or taxes "and may be subject to other limitations." For the Casino Insider's Deal campaign, the terms say the deposit applies to bookings made on or after May 4, 2026 for sailings departing September 1, 2027 or later.

Two Canadian figures

The free stateroom terms give the deposit as $130 CAD in one sentence and $138 CAD in another. If you book in Canadian dollars, confirm the amount before you pay.

Worked example: two guests, seven nights

A non-suite stateroom for two on a 7-night cruise: 2 × 7 × $18.00 = $252 in Crew Appreciation. Add required fees and taxes for both guests and a $200 deposit that comes back as onboard credit, plus anything you buy on board with its service charge. This is our arithmetic from Holland America's published rates; the fees and taxes are only known when you price the sailing.

The same costs on other lines, and the expected cost of the play that earns an offer, are in what a free casino cruise really costs.

Have It All and other deals

The casino terms say offers "may not be combined with other offers or promotions (aside from those listed herein)." The parts listed are the casino ones: fares, Free Play, drinks, events and deposits.

  • Have It AllA separate fare, based on its own promo codes, priced at $65 per person per day ($60 for cruises departing before summer 2027). It bundles the Signature Beverage Package, specialty dining, Surf Wi-Fi and shore excursion credit. It isn't one of the parts listed in the casino terms.
  • Early booking dealsThe Have It All Early Booking Bonus adds prepaid Crew Appreciation and other extras, with a $99 deposit on select 2027 cruises booked October 1 to November 2, 2026. Its terms say it "may not be combinable with other offers."
  • Onboard credit promotionsHolland America's other onboard credit offers say the credit "may not be used in the Casino." The casino deposit's onboard credit terms don't mention the casino either way.
  • Mariner SocietyCasino charges don't count toward the onboard spending bonus. Holland America doesn't say whether a casino fare earns Mariner cruise days.

We found no Holland America statement that lets you add Have It All to a casino fare after booking. If you want the package, ask the casino desk or your consultant before you book, and compare the casino offer's own drinks and Free Play with what the package would cost.

2026 casino changes

Several ships gained or refreshed casino space in recent dry docks. None of the announcements says anything about offers or earning.

  • Oosterdam, April 2025Holland America's release says the former Gallery Bar became casino floor with 34 new slot machines and a digital table game.
  • Westerdam, January 2026Holland America's dry-dock release doesn't mention the casino. The expansion on our line page comes from press reports.
  • Koningsdam, March 2026"Koningsdam's casino expanded during dry dock," per Holland America, with a larger footprint. No machine counts were given.
  • Rotterdam, April 2026Holland America says the casino "was refreshed and now features approximately 20 additional slot machines," with new seating, carpet and televisions in the table games area.
  • Wynn partnership endedWynn Rewards' cruise partnership moved from Holland America to MSC on February 1, 2026. See land casino partnerships.

Ship-by-ship casino details, and the full timeline, are on our Holland America page.

Age rules

  • 18To play in the casino. Holland America says to bring ID in case you're asked. Casino offers also go only to members 18 or older.
  • 21To drink alcohol, including drinks in the casino and beverage packages, and to apply for the Holland America Match.
  • Under 21 on a Match dealInvited guests under 21 must travel with a relative or guardian 25 or older.

We found no separate Alaska casino age from Holland America. A 21-and-over rule appears only on third-party sites, so confirm before you sail there.

Before you book

  • Check the offer onlineLog in with your Mariner ID and read which sections of the casino terms apply: fare type, sailings, book-by date, deposit and who's covered.
  • Book it as offeredThe name and Mariner ID must match, and changes may not be allowed. Ask before you switch ship, date or stateroom.
  • One offer per bookingCasino offers don't combine with other promotions. Have It All is a separate fare, so ask before counting on it.
  • Price the extrasFees and taxes for each guest, Crew Appreciation by the night, the deposit and anything for a third guest.
  • Use Free Play on boardIt expires at the end of the cruise and must be used before you cash out.
  • Keep recordsOcean Players Club handles win/loss statements and W-2G requests; see casino winnings and taxes.

An offer is only worth something if you'd take the cruise anyway, and playing to earn the next one usually costs more than it returns. Set a budget before you board.
