Seward cruise port

Ships tie up (no tenders) at the Alaska Railroad's cruise ship dock and Dale R. Lindsey Intermodal Facility, 913 Port Ave, by the small boat harbour. A replacement passenger dock was due to open in spring 2026. Some Gulf of Alaska cruises (e.g. Princess) use Whittier instead, about 60 mi from Anchorage.

Getting there

  • AirportTed Stevens Anchorage International (ANC) · about 120 mi / 2.5–4 h by motorcoach, rental car or Alaska Railroad (most cruisers fly in via Anchorage) to the port
  • TipMost cruisers fly via Anchorage, then take the Alaska Railroad Coastal Classic (daily May–Sep) or a motorcoach to Seward. Overnight in Seward if you want an easy embarkation, and book well ahead because the town is small.
  • TipSeward has little storage and the terminal holds no bags, so keep long-term storage in Anchorage near the airport. Check whether your ship actually uses Whittier, which is closer to Anchorage via the tunnel.
